As a script consultant...

I study the text very carefully, looking for clues - like a detective - of the writer’s vision and intention. Sometimes the text lets on more than the writer knows! It’s like a map, but maybe not always accurate, so you tell me the direction and I help you see how you can redraw it. But behind the text, there’s a person, and consulting is ultimately about a meeting between two people. I enter your world as a guest that you graciously invited for that part of your creative journey. And I accept the invitation with openness, passion and excitement!

Thanks to my multicultural background...

I’ve developed an openness to and curiosity for all kinds of narratives, including those that push boundaries in form, structure and storytelling techniques. Having studied filmmaking at Columbia, I have a good understanding of and respect for the classical Hollywood structure, as well as passion for the American indie, but, raised and educated in Poland, I feel very much grounded in the European auteur cinema tradition. I’m also grateful for my Middle Eastern experience which opened me up to a non-Western perspective, includigng alternative narratives, worldviews and approaches to storytelling.

Stories by and about women. I’ve been very interested in how we can do away with gender stereotypes in stories, and I pay extra attention to how women are portrayed in films. I also enjoy working on projects that use genre conventions, mixing them, playing with them, experimenting. I work both with films, and TV series, especially those that go beyond threadbare formulas. I read scripts in Polish, English, French and Italian, and I love learning about the world through reading and watching films.
